— The Memphis Grizzlies sent a group of escorts to the NBA playoffs to assist with hotel and transportation expenses.
The Memphis City Council unanimously approved the group, known as the Knox and Knox Escorts, to provide escorts for the NBA’s postseason games at the FedExForum in New Orleans.
“We are grateful for the support from the Knx and Knx Escorts who have been instrumental in our success in our professional careers and in our charitable endeavors,” Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said.
“This is an amazing opportunity to provide support to the city, the NBA and our fans in general.”
The Memphis Escorts were created in 2005 by Knox City Councilmember Jim Hall.
Hall has said he plans to use the group to provide a second chance for children from poverty.
Memphis Mayor A.C. Johnson said the city has offered $10,000 to any person who helps out in any way with the escorts, which were created as part of the Memphis Escort Team Initiative.
