The city of Miami is one of many in America where escort services are illegal, and many women and girls have to choose between their dignity and their financial security.
In the city, where prostitution is a daily occurrence, there are many women who rely on the services of escorts to pay their bills, find dates, and get the goods.
But one woman has made it her mission to change that and is a model for other women everywhere.
The woman is the author of an ebook, Escorts in Miami: A Guide to Life Without Escorts.
She also writes for The Washington Post and is the co-founder of a new website called The Escorts List, which seeks to highlight the services that are available in Miami.
“If we had a list, it would be really small,” says Elizabeth Mazzanti, the author and founder of The Escort List.
“I think the idea of a guide like this is to help us navigate this problem that’s out there and make sure we don’t end up where we’re at now.”
In her book, Escort in Miami, Elizabeth explains the history of the escorts business in Miami and the struggles that women face every day.
She gives examples of the struggles women face in the sex industry, including the lack of protections, the fact that women are often pressured to work long hours and that the industry has a reputation for being a dangerous business.
There are a lot of misconceptions and myths that are perpetuated by the escort industry, Elizabeth says.
One myth is that it’s all about money.
There is no money in escorting, she says.
In reality, the money is just a means of payment for a woman who’s been sexually abused or is seeking financial help for an abusive relationship.
Many escorts do not pay their rent, and they often are in debt to their pimps.
Elizabeth explains that escorts don’t have to keep receipts for their services.
“The majority of escort services that I’ve been a part of have no cash on hand,” she says in her book.
“There’s no cash in the pocket to show to the people that they’re taking care of you.”
She points out that many women do not have credit cards to pay bills, so they use the money from escorts for necessities.
“So they’re doing this without a bank account,” she explains.
“And then the money goes to the pimps, who are not going to get the money back.”
Elizabeth also points out the problem of human trafficking in the escort business, which she calls a form of “capitalistic exploitation.”
“We have these girls who are being sold into this exploitative business for pennies on the dollar,” Elizabeth says in the book.
Many escort services have been around for decades and Elizabeth has witnessed how a large number of them have been forced to shut down or relocate.
“We’ve had girls forced to leave our homes because they couldn’t pay their mortgage or their rent or to leave their kids at home,” she said.
“It’s not a safe business, and it’s not working for the women that work in it.”
One of the challenges Elizabeth is facing in getting the word out about the escorting industry is that there is so much misinformation about the business.
“My goal is to make sure that when people come to my website, they get the information that is accurate,” Elizabeth said in an interview with Yahoo!
“People think it’s like sex work, where you get paid to have sex, or it’s prostitution, where people are being trafficked, or that these are the only options.
That’s not the case.
There’s also a misconception that you have to be rich to have a job, so that’s not true either.
You have to have money to have an escort, and money is everything.”
Elizabeth has written a book about the escort market called Escorts and Sex Workers in Miami that she hopes will help change the way the industry operates and protect the women who work in the industry.
She hopes her work will help dispel the notion that there are only “the men in this industry” who need to be paid.
“When I write this book, I want to change the world for these women who are struggling, because there’s so much stigma that they have to go through,” Elizabeth explained.
“They have to deal with the fact they’re not valued.
And when they do have their day in court, it’s because the person who sold them out has to pay the court.
That’s why I think it is so important that we have this conversation, and I want this to change.”
