FALLS BAY, Calif.
— Fresno has hired 2 full time employees after the city hired five-figure numbers of escort services to escort tourists, local officials said.

She did not disclose the name of the employees.
In August, the city of San Jose hired two full- and part-time escorts to escort the mayor’s family to San Jose, she said.
In January, the City of Emeryville hired two escorts from a travel agency to escort guests to a movie and concert, she added.
Frenzese officials said the city was not reimbursing the agencies, but the agency reimbursed the city for all expenses.
Garcia said the escort agencies were not employed by the city and were paid for by the tourism industry.
She said that while they would like to continue doing business, she has not been able to.
She added that she does not know if any of the escorts will be reimbursed.

Garcias said she hoped to continue to use escorts after she and her husband were no longer employed by her husband’s travel agency.

When asked if the city will provide escorts for the future, Garcia said she had not spoken with the tourism officials about that.
